Lego Military Hats - Hey everyone – Tom here today with another dose of brick-tastic content to sink your teeth into, today we're looking at a custom LEGO helmet!

Now, as you may have noticed from my recent content, I like to write my pieces towards a consistent theme where possible. I feel it keeps the writing interesting – and provides good continuity, so if you like one paragraph you can enjoy the next! I really enjoyed writing about the Marvel theme for March, so I'll continue to write about military-themed Lego for my next couple of posts.

Lego Military Hats

There's a huge military LEGO community online - tons of people continue to work on awesome military MOCs every day. If you're looking for inspiration, I recommend diving in because you never know what you'll find. My personal favorite is this one from Beyond the Brick

A lot fueled my interest in Lego military. Watch that video when you get time.

Without further ado – let’s jump into today’s segment and take a look at the top 5 military themed headphones available in the market today. Strap on your chin strap and get ready, because this one is going to explode.

When choosing parts for custom minifigures, I like parts that reflect the real world - allowing me to get my minifigures as close to reality as possible. The IBH is an example of a good helmet that packs a lot of features very subtly to create a helmet that looks great on a minifigure. First, we have a fantastic night vision goggle mount – which allows dual goggle systems such as the Anvis 9 or quad goggle to be attached to the helmet. That's a good thing - because just one mounting point gives you three unique options to make your minifigure instantly more tactical.

You can choose to have no glasses fitted (as pictured above), or you can choose to have glasses fitted – giving you two options. They can be lowered over the minifigures' eyes - allowing you to create night ops style soldiers, or they can be stored upright over the eyes - just how real NVGs work when not in use. This small amount of dynamic functionality is amazing – and something I personally love.

Now, in addition to the NVG mount, the IBH also features curved slots on the sides designed to indicate where a person's ears would fit through the helmet in a true tactical helmet. However, here they serve a great function - giving us enough space for things like the JS1 headset, which can be mounted and locked. This, like NVGs, provides more detail - again allowing us to create different dynamic looks for our minifigures, and improving the overall level of detail we can add to them. This is something I really appreciate.

Finally, we have raised patch mounts on both sides where the actual national flag can be mounted. It's something the helmet doesn't have, but it can be easily replaced with stickers, prints or paint. This adds even more dynamism to the product – making it a great helmet for anyone looking to add some tactical flair to their minifigures.

As for our number four, we have something that I don't own, but have always been drawn to - and that's the boonie hat. Now, it's important to note that I've chosen Combat Bricks here purely for the sense of variety, but BrickArms and other companies also make great Boonie hats that are similar to the Combat Bricks offering. Here, the Boonie Hat gives us more options beyond traditional helmets – and I love how it gives us the opportunity to create something less extreme.

Increasingly, special forces, such as the US Navy SEALs, find themselves using boonie hats in tropical climates as they are more comfortable than a cumbersome ballistic helmet, so being able to own one on a minifigure is a great opportunity. Something I appreciate. Plus - with the boonie hat on the market, it's unstoppable at large

Custom Lego Garrison Cap Revealed!

Fans are recreating a Lego version of the iconic Captain John Price - I'd love to see someone do that!

Overall, this is a great product and once again adds a nice variety to the types of tactical display options you can get from your minifigures, really giving you more freedom in what you can do with these figures.

BrickArms is one of my favorites when it comes to high quality third party products to use with my LEGO minifigures. In the past I've created groups of SHIELD agents built around their PCV helmets and ACR rifles - I'll try to add a photo to this article. But today I wanted to look at a completely unique headdress - a one-of-a-kind Russian ushanga.

Ushanga is an Eastern European garment that can be seen in many films from that part of the world - and is designed as a winter garment. I really appreciate this item because while it has its uses as a civilian garment, it also has its uses as a military garment. Many have outfitted Russian infantrymen and Russian KGB agents with this helmet in the past - and it really completes a certain look.

I always appreciate having options when it comes to the minifigures we can build - so in that sense I think it would be useful to add something a little more detachable to the Ushanga table.

Stand in Brick for a Year - It's, as the title suggests, BrickForge's Basker with the Blue Badge. I love this item because it essentially shows how a simple push can set an object in motion and make it literally pop. The blue badge makes this beret a great addition to the US military - and I've used it on everything from Army Defense minifigures to my own General Shepard.

I also like the profile of the BrickForge beret, because in real life I'm sometimes tempted to make berets bigger and bigger to draw attention to because they're made of softer materials. Here, however, BrickForge went straight for a uniform and accurate look – and produced one that I think is brilliant. This item looks nice and sharp on the minifigures - giving them a cool, regimented look. I've seen it used on other characters, like the guards in Hong Kong, and it also generally creates storms and makes for a cool minifigure.

I recommend picking this up if you can - you'll find that sometimes a small printed detail can make a big difference in the overall impact of an accessory.

Minifig World War Ii American Military Police (mp) Helmet

Let me start by saying that SI-Dan will always be at the top of my list. I absolutely adore the level of modular functionality in all of their products, and the Pilot Helmet is a great example of this. First, the sculpture is fully visible, nailing the types of helmets that attack helicopter and transport pilots wear as part of their daily duty. We also get the NVG mount (as seen on IBH) that I love, but here we get another extra level of detail – the ability to add different removable visors in different colors.

I think that's an incredible level of detail - and says a lot about the type of company SI-Don is. Not only can you visually add different colors, but you can also move them up and down (as you can in real life), allowing you to get a more dynamic look for your minifigures. At the moment, I think it's really exciting - and unprecedented - in the third-party LEGO accessories market.

I really appreciate SI-Dan's commitment to making products that work with each other. We have several versions of the pilot's face guard - some with great prints - that can be placed next to the helmet to create a more tactical look for the pilot. Outside, SI-Dan has created a flexible pilot mask that can be used both with this helmet and a visor to create a combat helmet – which again is amazing. This speaks to the kind of cross-functionality that SI-Dan has with their products, and shows that I think they absolutely deserve to be my first choice when it comes to headphones.

What did you all think? Do you already have any of the accessories I mentioned here?
