English: Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (February 6, 2004) - Guests enjoy the lobby area of the newly opened Navy Lodge Hawaii on Ford Island. The lodge held a grand opening on January 28 and is housed in a historic landmark building built in 1941 and served as the Bachelor Officer's Quarters until 1984. The building was also used and featured as an emergency medical center during the attack on Pearl Harbor. In the movie "Tora! Tora! Tora!" A main priority during the renovation was to preserve the building's 1940s design inside and out. The $22 million renovated lodge has 55 two-bedroom suites and will assist transitioning service members and their families arriving or leaving Hawaii by providing easy access to Pearl Harbor and a place to stay while they look for local housing.
